Corporate Careers

Making an impact

Hong Kong Support Center

We call our corporate office a "support center" for a good reason- everything we do there is to support our retail store partners and in turn, make an impact on the communities we serve.

The Hong Kong Support Center is the regional corporate hub for 14 markets in the Asia Pacific region - Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong/Macau, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Here you will find careers in Finance, Operations, Product & Marketing, Store Design, Technology and much more.

Channel Development

Our focus is on delivering the Starbucks Experience and delighting customers beyond our retail stores through a broad and diverse portfolio of products in consumer packaged goods and channels in foodservice. We are an entrepreneurial group that takes pride in providing innovative, quality ready-to-drink and packaged coffee offerings, as well as foodservice solutions that meet our customers wherever they are in the world.

Coffee and Partner Engagement

Our focus it to nurture, elevate and inspire all partners through coffee by deepening expertise, celebrating our heritage and equipping partners to tell our coffee story. We collaborate closely with our Regional Coffee Leadership Team to build a deep bench of coffee leaders and grow expertise.

Finance

We are about planning, reviewing, forecasting and identifying opportunities for growth. We are also responsible for providing the business with accounting services and support that include the preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, debt management, credit management and annual statutory accounts. We are a fast-paced environment, working cross-functionally to partner with all departments offering support in any strategic decision-making.

Legal

We protect and safeguard our brand. We are dedicated to weighing risks and opportunities, as well as making sure the business is safe. We uphold the highest professional standards in legal service and business ethics. We work across many disciplines including corporate and security, commercial, intellectual property, labor and employment, licensing and franchising, and litigation. We also work in real estate, regulatory, government affairs, equal opportunity employment, operations and administration. We do it all.

Operations

Everything we do is to support our retail store partners. The Retail Operations team prioritizes projects and promotions to ensure partners can exceed customer expectations and execute store operations. We manage the process from idea and intake to implementation and communication. In some ways, we are the conduit between our corporate office and our retail stores.

Partner Resources

We call ourselves partners instead of employees because we are all partners in shared success. We work closely together as advisors to attract, support and develop the right people at the right time. We work in functional teams such as Generalist, Learning and Development, Total Rewards as well as Talent Acquisition. We are strategic partners for the business and, together, we build and deliver relevant programs and resources that shape careers to help our partners become the very best they can be.

Product & Marketing

We are responsible for developing the strategy for all customer touch points in Starbucks stores and in the digital world. This includes all the product campaigns, digital campaigns on social media and promotions, as well as initiatives including the Starbucks Card, CRM, e-commerce and mobile apps. We also lead cross-functional initiatives to execute on our growth agenda and drive strategy planning for the region, focusing on customers and working with Research & Development to bring profitable new product innovations to stores and digital experiences. We are all about creating meaningful connections with our customers, and play an integral role in bringing those moments to life.

Quality Assurance

Our main role is to manage and maintain the quality and safety standards of food and beverages in our stores, working collaboratively with our suppliers to ensure consistency. This is a very technical and analytical role, and it is exciting because every day is very different!

Research & Development

We are responsible for creating and developing new food, delicious beverages and innovative equipment. We drive the innovation behind new product ideas, developing the taste and finalizing the recipe for our customers to enjoy. We also play a key role in shaping the future growth of Starbucks as we expand into new outlets and markets.

Store Development & Design

Beyond great coffee, Starbucks is also known for creating an idyllic third place away from one’s home and work place where everyone feels welcome. Our store development and design team’s mission is to design sustainable and locally-relevant architecture and interiors that inspire the human spirit in every neighborhood that we serve. We are a team of architects, interior designers, industrial and graphic designers who collaborate to ideate and bring to life each and every one of these buildings and spaces. We strive to expand our unique store portfolio in the Asia Pacific region by careful selection of new locations, strategic lease negotiation and a continued emphasis on store portfolio management in each market.

Supply Chain

We are solution-driven collaborators. We work with stores across the region to ensure that supplies are always available for our baristas and their customers. From coffee to cups to chairs and more—our team manages outbound deliveries to all our retail stores, distribution channels and outlets. The entire function covers a large range of focus areas including sourcing, planning, logistics, customer service, supply chain development and commercialization.

Technology

We are agile innovators. We develop the technology to enable our business and deliver exceptional digital experiences to our customers and partners. We do this by providing retail solutions, end user support, business intelligence, and product and project management expertise. It is our mission to extend our digital ecosystem to power our core business.

I have always been a Starbucks fan and when an opportunity knocked my door in 2022 to join the organization full-time in the regional office in Hong Kong, I could not have been happier. I worked for an international consulting organization before Starbucks and wanted to make a pivot to in-house consulting. The role offered to me was with the Strategy & Insights team. It has been almost two years since I started, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Starbucks culture is very warm and welcoming, and I find that especially comforting given my recent relocation to Hong Kong then. I am empowered since day one to bring forth creative ideas and perspectives and see them to fruition. The team leadership listens and proactively strives to provide opportunities to enrich each partner’s career path and I am no exception. As I look back on my decision to join Starbucks, I feel nothing but pride of having made the right choice which not only enriches my career but also my life. For my journey ahead, I look forward to learning from the stellar leadership and emulate the servant leadership values that they all so eloquently live by. P. S. - Unending and free supply of the best tasting coffee was the real reason I said yes to the job!

I joined Starbucks Coffee Asia Pacific in 2012 in the ethical sourcing function reporting directly to the global team based in Seattle. Prior to that, I spent six years at Walmart’s Global Sourcing function where I gained experience in responsible sourcing and energy efficiency in China. Throughout the years, I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to grow and add value to Starbucks by building strategies in sustainability and integrating them into our ways of working across the region. We take pride in conducting business responsibility and supporting communities from which we source our products. I am particularly excited with our action plans in reducing our carbon, water and waste footprint in the coming years. My Starbucks journey has been meaningful, and if you are inspired to work in a different kind of company, do come to get to know us.

I joined Starbucks in the store design function in 2020, and have been specifically designing for our stores in the Korea market. I started my career in a big architectural firm working on large-scale multi-use skyscrapers, and subsequently moved on to smaller, entrepreneurial firms working for hospitality and F&B clients. What attracted me to Starbucks is the ability to work in a best-in-class F&B design environment with scale and creating a relevant experience for customers. As a design manager, not only do I have to work on a project from end-to-end, I also look after a team and processes. Over the years, how I am coached and how I coach others have made positive contributions to team effectiveness and ultimately our design quality. Starbucks designers come from all corners of the world. The projects here are fast-paced, and our stores are built within a short period of time after the completion of the design cycle. We are very entrepreneurial here. Unlike a big firm with a complex structure, here, we are free to be proactive and reach out to ask questions. We strive to make a project as perfect as possible; at the same time, we always learn and have the ability to finetune for our next project.
